RNFOO 2012 ONIG Award Recipients

At RNFOO's annual Gala on May 2nd, 2012 in Toronto, the recipients of the ONIG Award were recognized for their achievements in informatics.  Congratulations to both Julie and Kristine for winning the 2012 Ontario Nursing Informatics Group (ONIG) awards!! Their respective bios can be found below.  

Julie Kwan RN, MScN
Throughout her career, Julie has worked in hospital, long-term care, community, complex continuing care and government settings, always fully supporting safety and quality improvement initiatives. Her area of specialty is facilitating change by integrating clinical informatics with best practice, which has shown to improve delivery of patient care and enhance the work life of nurses. Julie is interested in leading future quality initiatives, with hopes that she will have a positive impact on the health of all Ontarians. While working full- time and raising two young children, Julie also works towards obtaining her Master of Nursing at the University of Toronto.

Kristine Newman RN, PhD

Kristine is presently a PhD Nursing Candidate at the University of Toronto working with Dr. Diane Doran. Her background is in professional practice, nursing education, rehabilitation nursing and she currently holds her CNA certification in Rehabilitation Nursing. Kristine also has interests in nursing education, knowledge translation and informatics.

ONIG Award of Excellence

Richard Booth RN, PhD

It is our pleasure to award Richard Booth with the 2012 ONIG Award of Excellence.  The award was presented on February 17th 2012 at the ONIG Annual General Meeting at SickKids in Toronto.
