Currently, ONIG is seeking a nomination for the President Elect position. Deadline for nomination is July 25, 2014. The position details are as follows:
 
President Elect role description
 
Reports to:
President, ONIG Board of Directors
 
Primary Function:
To perform duties as delegated by the President
 
Qualifications:
Elected member of ONIG Board of Directors
 
Responsibilities:
  • Have such power and perform such duties as may be assigned by the Board or by the President
  • Preside over the Recognition award
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director on the planning and circulation of ONIG broadcasts
  • In the absence of the President, the president-elect may perform the duties of the President
Duration:
Position held for one  (1) year
 
 
 
Qualifications for Office:
 
Any person nominated to an elected Board position shall be a Registered Nurse, a member of RNAO and  ONIG, and shall continue to be such so long as the nurse holds office.
Each Director of ONIG shall:  
  • Have informatics experience,
  • Be currently working in the field,
  • Have the capacity to contribute to the development of information technology solutions that support quality health care
  • Be available to attend, a majority of the regularly scheduled meetings, in person or by conference phone call, at least one face to face meeting and at least two education days per year
  • Be supported by their employer (i.e., able to meet the expectations of the role)
 
Instructions to submit your candidacy:
 
1) The Candidate must submit an application form, which can be found at this link.  The candidacy application form requires basic contact information and selection of the position you wish to declare your candidacy toward.  Also, as part of the application form, candidates are asked to provide a short biography (250 words) which describes their education/experience and the reason for interest in the position.  Please complete the candidacy form on or by July 25, 2014.
 
2) All candidates are also required to have a Nominator for their desired position.  A Nominator must be an RNAO and ONIG member (in good standing in 2014), and complete the Nominator form on or by July 25, 2014.  A link to the Nominator form can be found here.

 It is our pleasure to award Peggy White, RN, MN (Program Manager at Health Outcomes for Better Information and Care Program) with the 2013 ONIG Award of Excellence.  The award was presented on March 12th at the ONIG Annual General Meeting at SickKids in Toronto.

Your talent, expertise and passion for informatics will ensure ONIG continues to grow and thrive.  For the 2014-2016 years, ONIG is seeking nominees for Treasurer, Education, and, Membership Directors. Any person nominated to an elected Board position shall be a Registered Nurse, a member of RNAO and  ONIG, and shall continue to be such so long as the nurse holds office.

Each Director of ONIG shall:

Position description:

Primary Function: To maintain a record of the activities of the ONIG Board meetings

Qualifications: Elected member ONIG Board

 

Responsibilities:

To develop and circulate agendas and other pertinent materials for Board meetings

To record the discussion, decisions, and actions of the ONIG Board meetings and ensure minutes are posted on the website no later than one week following the Board meeting

To conduct correspondence as requested by the President

To receive a copy of general correspondence addressed to ONIG

To ensure the following are carried out: (I) ONIG Application Form is current, (2) Maintain all business contacts for ONIG.

Notify Board members of their election

 

Duration: Position held for two (2) years and not to exceed two consecutive terms.
