RNFOO 2011 Award Winners

Each year, ONIG sponsors two $1000 RNFOO scholarships for individuals who are interested and studying some element of informatics at the undergraduate or graduate level.  This year, we are pleased to announce the winners of the ONIG Scholarships!

Donna Wells RN, BScN
Donna Wells graduated from Sheridan College in 1986 with a diploma in Nursing and started full time at the Mississauga Hospital. She started her family in June 1987 and in order to be at home as much as possible with her three girls, Donna worked various jobs eventually settling into a part time staff nurse at the Scarborough Hospital. She started her BScN in 2000 at Ryerson University and throughout the course of life happening, graduated in 2011. Donna has reached two of her long term goals: getting her BScN as well as becoming a full time healthcare consultant.

Robert Fraser RN, BScN, MN(c)
Robert Fraser, is a nurse who is passionate about how technology can change the way we share in- formation. He is an active and engaged individual, both at home and abroad. He has volunteered in a number of places, from soup kitchens to national healthcare boards. Fraser’s creativity and interest in technology prompted the 2008 launched of Nursing Ideas (http://nursingideas.ca), an online nursing repository for connecting nurses and nursing students with leaders, innovators, and researchers in healthcare, and he recently wrote a book on social media for nurses, to be published by Sigma Theta Tau International in March.
